Welcome to Part 2 of the Beginner’s Guide to Crocheting Your First Garment! In the previous post, we talked about why crocheting your own garment is a rewarding challenge and how to start with simple patterns. Now, I want to share my personal journey of making my very first crochet garment—the Mosaic Vest. It all began with a simple granny square, but with a little creativity and a lot of love for crochet, it turned into a stylish and wearable vest.
Let’s dive into the story of how my Mosaic Vest came to life!
When I crocheted my very first garment, I had no grand plan—just a simple start. It all began when I made a mosaic granny square for Granny Square Day and shared it on my Instagram account. I loved how it turned out, and something about that little square made me want to keep going.
So, I kept crocheting, growing that granny square larger and larger. I wasn’t sure what it would become at the time—I just enjoyed the process. Eventually, I made a second large square, and an idea started to take shape. I realized I could join these two squares together to create a vest. It was a simple but stylish piece, and to my surprise, it looked fantastic!
After finishing the vest, I decided to write the pattern, so other crocheters could make their own stylish Mosaic Vest. This piece has since become one of my favorites, and the pattern is now available for anyone who wants to crochet a chic, wearable garment without getting lost in complicated techniques.
If you’d like to try making your own Mosaic Vest, you can check out the pattern here. It’s a perfect project for beginners who want to take their crochet skills to the next level!
Happy Crocheting!
